A Fat Girl's Diary

The oh-so many frustrations in life.

Pretty much Thankful

As i was walking down Don Celso Tuazon Avenue, I bumped into an old lady whom i've been bumping into every time i took my tricycle ride early in the morning. She was a tiny, frail old lady, who carried a big black bucket full of kanin baboy. She goes thru people's garbage every single waking day to look for leftovers.

She smiled at me this morning, a genuinely happy one. at that moment, how i admired her for managing to smile depite the stench of decomposing food rising from plastic bags and the bucket she carried.

i thanked God for the many blessings i have. for the roof over my head. for my hoardes of clothes and shoes. for the food that i eat more than 3x a day. for my education. for my work.

i thought that i should be like the old lady that collects kanin baboy every morning. i should smile all the time...because God has given me a million and one reasons to smile about.
