Death ain't it a weird reality...
The youngest brother of a friend passed away at the tender age of 14. The Good Lord finally took Joshua San Juan in His loving embrace after 2 years of battling a rare disease.
It was overhwhelming to see earlier this evening at the wake how the LSGH chapel was filled with so many family members, friends, neighbors, doctors.
A weird reunion of sorts.
After going through 2 family deaths earlier this year, I've realized that deaths are actually a good thing. You get to (or are rather forced to) spend time with family members (both immediate to the bizaarely oh-my-god-i-can't-believe-we're-actually-related-ones) friends, ex-lovers, enemies (who are actually brave enough to set foot during the wake) and a handful of interesting personalities (like the embalsamador? Hehe). Catching up on the latest chikas (who's dating who. who's gonna get married next. etc. etc), reliving the fun (and very humiliating) times together...and then planning on the next reunion (which hopefully isn't another family death.
These things help lighten up the passing of a loved one into the next life. Well, isn't death supposed to be a celebration since a loved one will finally be with the Lord? (or we pray hard he/she actually gets to Heaven. Wehehehe)
But anyway, it really come-to-think-of-it is a happy thing. Death lets go of another, bringing together those who are left here. (which hopefully and Godwillingly is a happy get-together...Ü)
