The Miracle of Agape.
I was struck by the homily of the priest in our Church today. He consistently delivers relevant homilies, but this particular one did strike a chord in me.
Today's gospel was about the miracle of the 5 loaves and 2 fish. He said it wasn't about Jesus actually performing a miracle, but it was about Jesus moving the hearts of these people to share.
He explained further that people would more often than not bring something from home when they leave. Nagbabaon tayo. So when these people went up to the mountains to listen to Jesus, they actually had something for themselves, which they did bring for themselves. In short, it was not meant for sharing.
Come mealtime, nobody wanted to show they had baon since they knew that the others would be partaking in that meal. Nagdadamot sila.
But then, Jesus words were able to move them to share, to whip out their lunchboxes and offer it to those who did not have any, or maybe had less.
yea, maybe i have been too selfish. too absorbed in my OWN trials. forgetting that there is more of life outside myself.

Hello Didi, this is Yorax. I appreciate very much this post.
Yeah, that's a very nice homily, even better than other priest's. Anyway, yeah it's not good to compare, but sometimes (if not always, that may be impossible)we need to say something we think about what priests are saying in their homilies. And, even better to let them know.
If we are inspired by their homily, then letting them know it may also inspire them to do more for the flock they shepherd. If we're not satisfied with what they are saying, have figured out why and find it helpful for them to let them know, then let us give them healthy feedback in any possible and humane means.
Priests sometimes just need to know whether they are still on the right track or not, and they have a human need too to be inspired.
I am able to say this because I am aiming be one too. I find it helpful for me to know what God's message is to His people not only in one way of interpreting the Gospel but but more so in listening to what Gospel says to every individual (of course not undermining the authorized teaching of the Church).
I'll be very glad if you could make some comments too on this matter.
