A Fat Girl's Diary

The oh-so many frustrations in life.

"When Is ENOUGH, ENOUGH?!?"

Was Fr Dave Concepcion's question to all of us yesterday at the Greenbelt Chapel.

He goes on with a hilarious anecdote of the distinct Pinoy trait of the luv luv luv luv luv to EAT, especially this holiday season. The tendency to pile up our plates with food to the point that the sauce of menudo and leche flan mix together. Then after filling up our bellies with glorious food, we go on to say "Hindi na ako makahinga..." But when the dessert plates are set on the table, we still manage to get up, grab a plate and eat some dessert. (Duane and I were almost laughing our asses off during the homily since we could so see ourselves in that situation)

This Christmas season, we tend to fill ourselves up with too much material things (i.e. food and gifts) that we forget when enough is enough...that we forget to save room for God, who is the center of the celebration.

We are invited to purge ourselves of the excesses in our life. Give to those who do not have anything. Clean out the refs, the closets. Give food to the starving. Give clothes to the naked.

...to be able to give space for the coming of the Lord in our minds, bodies and hearts.

Be thankful for the many blessings we have, how God has given us our daily bread.

This is actually a challenge to myself and the rest of you guys who love to complain. Think of how much blessings you have before uttering a single word of rant.

Thank God for your health.
Thank God for your livelihood.
Thank God for your family.
Thank God for your friends.
Thank God for your special someone.
Thank God for the roof over your head.
Thank God for the food that nourishes you.
Thank God for the little things.
Thank God for everything.
